The much heralded career of Orlando Cepeda saw him win Rookie of the Year, MVP in 1967, a World Series Championship in 1967, the Outstanding Designated Hitter 1973, and finally induction into Baseball's Hall Of Fame.  Like so many athletes, the great ones seldom go out on top and in the case of Cepeda, he finished up his final season playing a mere 33 games with the Kansas City Royals in 1974. After winning championships in 1958 and 1959, the Baltimore Colts were going into some lean seasons for the franchise in the early 1960’s.  Coming off a 7-7 season, the team was starting to rebuild.  Many old hands were still around, but some future stars had joined the team and were starting to emerge. After a heart-breaking second place finish in the NFL’s Western Division in 1959, the Chicago Bears were ready to make a run for the Championship in 1960.  Although that did not come to be, the Bears still had one of the most feared defenses in the game. The 1958 NFL Championship between The Baltimore Colts and New York Giants is considered by many to be the “greatest football game ever played.”  Many recall the Colts winning in overtime, 23-17, on a short-yardage plunge by Alan Ameche, ending the game that put pro football into the national spotlight.   Many also remember the brilliant play of their young field general Johnny Unitas, or lineman Gino Marchetti watching the end of the game from the sidelines with a broken leg.
